You choose to let someone go.

You hold them when they cry, you tell them they have no choice.

You hope that they move on.

You distance yourself-

The farther away you run, the more brutal the tear in their heart.

A sense of coldness comes over you, watching them tremble with helplessness.

You see no other way.

"I can't do this anymore", you say.

You hate yourself.

You long to be just friends-

But putting yourself in their shoes, you know it'd hurt more than anything.

Thinking of ways to tell them how much they STILL mean to you, the fact that actions speak louder than words haunts you.

You chose to let them go.

So why the tears when they tell you they've found someone new?
